Abstract

We examined underlying factors linked with Attitudes toward immigrants. Results show that in general, those who value protecting individuals from Harm held more favorable attitudes toward immigrants, while those valuing obedience to Authority as well as those valuing Purity held more negative views toward immigrants. Furthermore, those valuing tighter cultural values also displayed more negative attitudes toward immigrants. However, when broken into groups based on ethnicity, findings related to Purity and Tightness only held up in the Caucasian participant pool.

  1. Is the discussion on immigration centered around all immigrants in general? Or a select group of immigrants?

  2. Like. Did you know that the cumbia duo Purity & Tightness were all the rage among Caucasians in the 60’s? Not.
